MASSAGE/SOBADORA: Licensed Massage Therapist, LMTs, use various techniques
to improve blood and lymph circulation, stress reduction, eliminate metabolic toxins in the muscles, repair and restructure injured muscles and tendons and rejuvenate the nervous system.

AYURVEDIC HERBAL WRAP is a very pampering and detoxifying treatment. First warm sesame oil is applied liberally to the body and massage is administered to relax the nervous system and open the pores of the skin. This is not a massage focused on the muscles, friction techniques are used. Then powdered herbs are applied to the body such as rose powder, brahmi powder (kotu kola), or sandalwood powder. These herbs rejuvenate the nervous system. The herbs are gently rubbed into the skin for exfoliation. Finally steaming body-size towels are applied to the body and the client is wrapped in thermal and cotton blankets. This allows the client to sweat and release toxins. Afterwards the client showers off the herbs. The skin is left soft and the client experiences deep senses of relaxation.

ACUPUNCTURE AND TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE is the manipulation of body energy by means of small needles inserted into the skin. These fine needles are inserted at specific points to treat diseases. Acupuncture is used to restore balance and promote healing. Traditional Chinese Medicine includes the use of acupuncture, moxibustion (heat), herbal therapies, diet, exercises, and traditional oriental massage.

SEA WEED WRAP Includes applying a sea weed paste body mask and two wraps. The Sea weed paste has all the essential minerals the body needs; sea salt, spirulina, clay and brewer's yeast. The first wrap with the Sea weed paste allows you to absorb the healthy nutrients. After rinsing off the Sea weed, the second wrap will encourage you to sweat out the impurities and toxins. (It is important to drink plenty of water during the treatment and throughout the day.

CHIROPRATIC is a branch of integrated healing incorporating many modalities to treat the whole person. A Doctor of Chiropractic may do spinal, cranial, and extremity adjusting, postural integration, nutritional evaluation, and emotional release work. A Chiropractor looks at health as the balance of structural (musculoskeletal, postural ), biochemical (nutritional, hormonal, immunological) and mind body (mental and emotional aspects).

CRANIAL SACRAL THERAPY work comes from osteopathic medicine, which is medicine that deals with the bones. Cranial sacral therapy utilizes gentle, non-evasive energy work to assist bones to realign and focuses on relaxing the central nervous system. This work can release physical and emotional pain.

DEEP TISSUE AND SPORTS MASSAGE:
LMTs use deep stimulation of specific muscle groups to release painful and tight muscles.
This work usually focuses on a specific area of the body, though a massage can be done
on the entire body.

FOOT REFLEXOLOGY is a wonderful relaxing foot massage where pressure is applied to specific points in the foot that correspond to different areas of the body. There are over 7,000 nerve endings in each foot. Massaging the feet brings deep relaxation and frequently the receiver may drift off to a light sleep. The treatments begin with a hot foot soak in warm water with essential oils added to the water.

HOT STONE MASSAGE is performed using smooth basalt rocks that are heated for one hour in water. The stones are cooled slightly and then applied to the body with oil. The heat opens up the muscles allowing the release of pain and tension. This is a very relaxing treatment.

NATUROPATHIC PHYSICIANS are trained
to diagnose and treat a wide range of health conditions, much as a regular medical doctor. Naturopathic Physicians attend full medical school training. Naturopaths have a wholistic approach to healing their patients. The Naturopathic Physician works as a partner to promote your best health. Naturopaths will focus on nutrition, lifestyle, exercise, sleep relaxation, and self-care habits so that you may best support your own health and healing.

PREGNANCY MASSAGE: Safe massage can be performed on a pregnant woman by a specially trained, licensed massage therapist after the first trimester. Pregnancy massage is administered with the mother-to-be lying on her side with plenty of pillows for support. Benefits include: relief of muscle spasms and cramps associated with bearing extra weight during pregnancy, massage helps the mother's body to eliminate waste products which combats fatigue and helps the mother feel more energetic, massage can help lower the mother's blood pressure, increase nutrients to the baby, and relax the nervous system so the mother can sleep more deeply.

THAI MASSAGE is performed on a futon mat or on a massage table. Clients wear loose fitting clothing during their treatments. Therapists utilize gentle stretching techniques similar to yoga to assist clients with reaching a better range of motion.

WATSU THERAPY is done in a heated pool, in the Wellness Center. Watsu was developed from shiatsu which is pressure point work done along meridian lines or nerve lines throughout the body. Applying shiatsu techniques in the warm water is very relaxing. Watsu is effective in a wide variety of neurologic and orthopedic problems. Watsu involves gentle rocking movements, stretches, and gentle pressure point work in the nurturing arms of the practitioner. This reminds some receivers of the peace and simplicity of their earliest childhood and womb states. Watsu can allow physical and emotional blockages to be gently released.
